Thinking is natural. Problems arise when we think about the wrong things, or we think too much. These things happen when the intellect does not do its job of managing thoughts. In Raja Yoga we practice using the intellect to choose high quality thoughts -- thoughts that are positive, peaceful, meaningful and benevolent. Over time, having high quality thoughts becomes a habit. Disturbed thoughts will still occasionally come, but the intellect can step in and re-direct the thoughts.
